A dictionary, also referred to as a lexicon, wordbook, or vocabulary, is a collection of words in one or more specific languages, often listed alphabetically, with usage information, definitions, etymologies, phonetics, pronunciations, and other information; or a book of words in one language with their equivalents in another, also known as a lexicon. According to Nielsen 2008 a dictionary may be regarded as a lexicographical product that is characterised by three significant features: (1) it has been prepared for one or more functions; (2) it contains data that have been selected for the purpose of fulfilling those functions; and (3) its lexicographic structures link and establish relationships between the data so that they can meet the needs of users and fulfil the functions of the dictionary. Further, each word may have multiple meanings. A dictionary typically includes each separate meaning in the order of most common usage. In many languages, words can appear in many different forms, but only the undeclined or unconjugated form appears as the headword in most dictionaries. Dictionaries are most commonly found in the form of a book, but some newer dictionaries, like StarDict and the New Oxford American Dictionary are dictionary software running on PDAs or computers. There are also many online dictionaries accessible via the Internet. A multi-volume Latin dictionary in the University Library of Graz. From Wikipedia under the

There's no such thing as "symbian 60" or "symbian 40". What you're talking about is S60, a Symbian OS based platform, and Series 40, a Java platform running on top of Nokia OS. S60 phones are smarphones, thus they are more advanced (and more expensive) than the Series 40 ones. There are many features which are better and bigger on the S60 smartphones. As for what the dictionaries are concerned, the share size of them could be different, i.e. number of words known. S60 can handle more words than an Series 40 device (more memory available) Aside from that, the S60 phones are also capable of multitasking. Q. With Babylon with literally just click on the word and the translation appears instantly. So what's the point now? Asked by 7 inches - Tue Mar 24 09:25:19 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Translation programs don't teach you the process involved in the translation thus you aren't learning the language. Language to Language dictionaries whether paper or electronic are still needed to understand a language and follow the rules. Also the translation programs aren't 100% accurate. They choose the most common translation whether it makes sense or not. They don't consider the fact that a word in one language can have many meanings in another language.
